Tuba AKYÜZ

After graduating from Kadıköy Anadolu High School, Tuba Akyüz completed her undergraduate degree in Psychological Counseling at Boğaziçi University. She then earned a fully-funded Master's degree in Counseling and Clinical Psychology at Boston College in the United States. 

  

She completed her clinical training at Harvard Medical School and went on to work as a case coordinator and expert psychotherapist at the Cambridge Health Alliance Clinics, which is one of Harvard University's affiliated hospitals. During this time, Akyüz also conducted training and supervision at Massachusetts General Hospital. Akyüz focused on psychological trauma during this period and had the opportunity to work with Dr. Judith Herman and her team to receive training in Complex Trauma and Trauma Therapy. 

  

Working with adolescents, adults, couples, and groups, Akyüz specializes in trauma, crisis, loss and grief, depression, phobias, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, anger management, and relationship problems. In her clinical practice, Akyüz uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Strategic Family Therapy, Short-Term Psychodynamic Therapy, Trauma Intervention, and EMDR. In recent years, Akyüz has also been closely interested in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness in her work. 

  

Since 2010, Tuba Akyüz has been living in Turkey and is also a part-time lecturer at Yeditepe University's Psychology and Psychological Counseling departments.
